Art at EAST: Urban Remix
EAST is proud to present “Art at EAST: Urban Remix”, our new multi-city art programme to reimagine urban living and celebrate the vibrant communities that EAST calls home, starting with Miami.
Coinciding with Art Basel week 2019, acclaimed artist Carlos Betancourt presented a new site-specific installation, On the Edge: The Hopeful Forest, a series of totems made from repurposed, abandoned objects found in the surrounding community.
Curated by Ximena Caminos, the artwork drew influence from the high-rises and art of the local Brickell community to represent its diverse culture and what it means to live in this beloved city. The name ‘On the Edge’ further spoke to Miami’s location on the eastern edge, and references the broader idea of being on the edge - a moment of anticipation for the unknown. The installation was on view from December 2019 to January 2020 and featured an interactive coloring book created by Carlos Betancourt for guests to add their own personal touch to the artwork!
Stay tuned for “Urban Remix” coming to Hong Kong and Beijing at our sister hotels!
